Standard #6 Assessment

The teacher understands and uses multiple methods
of assessment to engage learners in their own
growth, to document learner progress, and to guide
the teacher’s on-going planning and instruction.

Reflection

The artifacts I choose was an instructional plan for a fourth grade student that I worked on a writing unit with as a writing coach. I also included the lesson plans for the writing mini lessons and their reflections that helped guide my instructional plan choices with the student. This shows how I can use formative assessments such as end of lesson check ins and evaluation of students writing to guide further instruction as well as the next mini lesson. The instructional guide was a way to document the students progress and helped organize the next writing goals for the student. By having these clear goals and plan in place it will guide further planning and instruction. This artifact demonstrates my ability to successfully use reflection and assessment to guide my planning which is essential in providing proper instruction and differentiation.
