I chose to read the “ANALYZE THIS” chapter specifically focusing on “The Introduction and thesis: this ‘This Paper Challenges…'”. I focused on this section because it helped give me more ideas on what I can include in my introduction and different ways of introducing sources you are using. The templates given on page 230 were what really stuck out most to me. These templates give ideas for agreeing and disagreeing with passages which I found very helpful. I have noticed that I often use the same wording and ways of agreeing with sources and sometimes have a difficult time wording when I disagree. I also have found page 234’s templates to be extremely helpful in that they give ways to include overview summaries of material or sources. This is something that can is extremely helpful to me since I often struggle introducing a source or background information in a way that sounds proper. While revising my essay I constantly had these template pages open and tried to incorporate these new formats into my essay. I split apart and combined different templates to fit my papers needs, but they gave me the basic format and ideas I needed. This really helped organize my thoughts for my paper and clear up confusing wording. It overall made my introduction of sources a lot cleaner and I was able to introduce authors ideas in a more efficient way.
